Debut director Suresh Rajakumari, who earlier worked as an assistant to Vetri Maaran, makes his directorial entry with Sirai, a social drama inspired by a real-life incident from former policeman and Taanakkaran director Tamizh. The film stars Vikram Prabhu as armed reserve police officer Kadhiravan, tasked with escorting a suspect, played by LK Akshay Kumar, from jail to court. The story unfolds through their conversations during this journey. Originally meant to be directed by Tamizh, the project was handed to Suresh when Tamizh became busy with Marshal alongside Karthi. Suresh, who had larger-scale stories pending, took on the film with the aim of portraying the life of a police officer in a realistic, non-commercial manner. The movie also marks the Tamil debut of Malayalam actress Anishma Anilkumar, who will be dubbing for herself.
