Sasikumar’s ‘Freedom’ to Release on July 10: A Gripping Tale of Prison Break and Injustice

After winning hearts with his role in Tourist Family, actor Sasikumar is all set to portray another emotionally intense character in his upcoming film Freedom, directed by Sathyasiva—best known for Kazhugu, Savaale Samaali, and 1945. The film is based on real-life incidents involving Sri Lankan refugees and a prison break that occurred in Tamil Nadu between 1991 and 1995.

The teaser, unveiled on Monday, offers a compelling glimpse into the harsh realities of incarceration and the plight of refugees. Sasikumar plays a man unjustly trapped in a flawed system—desperately seeking justice and a chance at freedom. He is joined by Lijomol Jose, who plays his wife, and actors Bose Venkat and Malavika Avinash in key supporting roles.

Director Sathyasiva revealed that Freedom is rooted in a true story:

“The film is about a prison break and the emotional journey of Sri Lankan refugees who are wrongfully imprisoned. It delves into the trauma of people serving sentences for crimes they didn’t commit and their fight to reclaim their lives.”

The film’s technical crew adds further strength to the project, with Ghibran composing the music, NS Uthaya Kumar handling cinematography, and Srikanth NB in charge of editing.

Co-produced by Sujatha Pandian and Pandian Parasuraman, Freedom is slated for a July 10, 2025 release in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi, marking a significant pan-Indian rollout.

With its emotionally charged narrative and socially relevant theme, Freedom promises to be a powerful addition to Indian cinema’s growing slate of reality-inspired dramas.
