RJ Balaji Thanks Audiences for Karuppu Love, Urges Compassion in Theatres

Director and actor RJ Balaji has expressed heartfelt gratitude to audiences for the overwhelming response to Karuppu, which has been witnessing packed theatres across Tamil Nadu and other regions since its release on Friday.

Headlined by Suriya, the action drama opened to strong word-of-mouth after releasing with a one-day delay. The film, centered around the reincarnation of Karuppuswamy, has also sparked emotional reactions among audiences, with several videos surfacing online showing viewers entering trance-like states during screenings.

Acknowledging these incidents, RJ Balaji shared a note requesting audiences to respond with empathy and care toward those “touched by divine energy” inside theatres. He urged people to offer water, space, and support while informing theatre staff so that such moments can be handled with dignity and sensitivity.

He also appealed to exhibitors and theatre partners across the state to ensure their staff are prepared to respond compassionately in such situations. Calling audience faith the driving force behind the film’s success, he noted that Karuppu now belongs to the people and stressed the importance of protecting that faith with grace and respect.
