Aadu 3 confirmed as a two-part film. Jayasurya returns as Shaji Pappan; fantasy twist hits theatres March 19.
The makers of Aadu 3 have officially confirmed that the much-awaited third instalment in the franchise will unfold as a two-part saga.
Producer-actor Vijay Babu revealed in a recent interview that while the team had long promoted the film as “One Last Ride,” it will actually be split into two chapters. “This will be part one of that ‘One Last Ride’, followed by a second part,” he clarified.
Directed by Midhun Manuel Thomas, the film sees Jayasurya reprise his iconic role as Shaji Pappan, the hilariously unlucky yet resilient gang leader. The newly released three-minute trailer hints at a surprising fantasy twist. It opens in a different era, with Jayasurya appearing as a king who speaks of a mysterious weapon said to hold immense power — signalling a dramatic tonal shift for the action-comedy franchise.
Fan favourites including Saiju Kurup, Vinayakan, Sunny Wayne, Dharmajan Bolgatty, Indrans and Vijay Babu return to reprise their roles.
The original Aadu (2015) initially underperformed at the box office but later gained cult status after its DVD release. That resurgence paved the way for the commercial success of Aadu 2 in 2017. The franchise has since been celebrated for its exaggerated humour and irreverent storytelling.
Aadu 3 is set for a worldwide theatrical release on March 19. The film will face stiff box office competition from Toxic starring Yash and Dhurandhar: The Revenge headlined by Ranveer Singh over the same weekend.
