Tovino Thomas-starrer 'Identity' emerges as Mollywood's first hit of 2025

The makers recently announced that the film has grossed an impressive ₹40.23 crore worldwide in just two weeks. With packed theatres and its Telugu and Hindi versions set to release soon, trade analysts predict the film will join the ₹50 crore club shortly.

Released on January 2, Identity received a blockbuster response from audiences and critics alike, earning ₹23.20 crore worldwide within its first four days. The Tamil version of the film has also performed well, adding to its widespread success.

Written and directed by Akhil Paul and Anas Khan, the film is produced by Raju Malliath and Dr. CJ Roy and distributed by Gokulam Movies through Dream Big Films.

The Malayalam film industry enjoyed an exceptional 2024, with multiple hits like Manjummel Boys, ARM, Aavesham, Kishkinda Kandam, Aadu Jeevitham, Osler, and Brahmayugam, many crossing ₹50 crore to ₹100 crore at the box office. With Identity kickstarting 2025 on a high note, industry insiders are optimistic about another stellar year for Malayalam cinema.
