Tharkkam First Look Unveiled; Sajin Baabu Sets Ambedkarite Thriller Against Bharani Festival

National Award-winning filmmaker Sajin Baabu has unveiled the first look of his upcoming film Tharkkam, a realistic thriller carrying the tagline “Fall. Stand. Fight.”

Best known for acclaimed films such as Biriyaani and Theatre, Sajin has written and directed the new project, which is produced by Anoop Kutty and Sajin under the banners of PWLO Entertainment and Sajin Baabu Productions.

Set against the backdrop of the renowned Kodungallur Bharani Festival at the Kodungallur Sree Mahadevi Temple, Tharkkam centres on the clash between a police officer who takes pride in caste-feudal authority and a young man named Surjith, whose worldview is shaped by the progressive ideals of B. R. Ambedkar.

The film features several newcomers in pivotal roles. The technical crew includes cinematographer Jebin Jacob, editor Appu Bhattathiri, and music composer Saeed Abbas.

With its socially charged premise and festival backdrop, Tharkkam promises a grounded thriller that examines power, identity, and resistance through a contemporary lens.
