After clearing legal hurdles and censorship disputes, Shane Nigam’s Haal gets court approval and locks a Christmas theatrical release.

After months of legal uncertainty and censorship-related controversy, Shane Nigam-starrer Haal is finally set to hit theatres this Christmas. Directed by Veera, the film has now received clearance from the High Court, paving the way for its long-awaited theatrical release.

Following the court’s approval, the makers unveiled a striking new poster featuring the line, “Finally reaching audiences with court approval.” The poster also incorporates newspaper headlines referencing the controversy, subtly acknowledging the legal journey the film has undergone.

Haal first came into the spotlight after the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) demanded the removal of six scenes, including one depicting the consumption of beef biryani. The board reportedly insisted that certification would only be granted if the cuts were implemented. Disagreeing with the directive, the filmmakers approached the High Court, challenging the order.

As reported earlier, a single bench of the High Court revoked four of the six proposed cuts. This verdict was subsequently challenged by both the CBFC and the Catholic Congress through appeals. However, the division bench recently dismissed these appeals, upholding the original ruling. Notably, the judges viewed the film in its entirety before delivering the verdict, with members of the bench reportedly stating that they enjoyed the film.

Sakshi Vaidya plays the female lead opposite Shane Nigam, with the ensemble cast featuring Johnny Antony, Nath, Vineeth Beepkumar, K Madhu Pal, Sangeetha Madhavan Nair, Joy Mathew, Nishanth Sagar, Niyas Becker, Suresh Krishna, Sohan Seenulal, Manoj K U, and others in key roles.

Adding to its reach, Haal is slated for release in multiple languages, including Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, and Kannada, alongside the original Malayalam version. Shane Nigam was last seen in the blockbuster action film RDX, directed by Nahas Hidhayath.
