Empuraan is creating history with record-breaking pre-sales, setting the stage for one of the biggest openings in Malayalam cinema. The sequel to the 2019 blockbuster Lucifer has already amassed over ₹12 crore in pre-sales from overseas markets, making it the highest-grossing Malayalam film in terms of international advance bookings.

According to reports from Sacnilk, Empuraan achieved ₹10 crore in overseas pre-sales within record time, highlighting the immense anticipation surrounding the film. Industry experts predict that the action-packed thriller could establish new benchmarks for Malayalam cinema, given its massive pre-release buzz.

Director-actor Prithviraj Sukumaran, who helms the project, announced on social media that pre-bookings in India officially opened on March 21. “All India bookings open now!!! Grab your tickets to watch the spectacle unfold in theatres across the world from 27/03/25!” he wrote, fueling excitement among fans. With a week left for release, domestic ticket sales are expected to rise significantly.

Speaking at the IMAX trailer launch event, Mohanlal expressed his deep connection with the film, calling it ‘magical.’ “Empuraan is not just a movie; it is our blood and sweat. The film will speak to you,” he said, thanking Prithviraj for bringing the vision to life.

The recently released trailer promises a grand-scale action spectacle, further elevating expectations. Adding to the excitement, Game of Thrones actor Jerome Flynn is set to play a key role in the film.
