Mohanlal & Mammootty Unite for Historic Patriot Trailer Launch in Theatres

Mohanlal and Mammootty are set to create history with the theatrical trailer launch of Patriot on April 4 at 6:00 PM. The trailer will be screened simultaneously at two iconic venues—Ragam Theatre and Kavitha Theatre.

Mohanlal will attend the launch at Kavitha Theatre in Ernakulam, while Mammootty will be present at Ragam Theatre in Thrissur. This marks the first time in Malayalam cinema history that both legendary actors will appear in theatres for a trailer launch event.

Previously, Mammootty had attended the trailer launch of L2: Empuraan, starring Mohanlal and Prithviraj Sukumaran, but that event was held in a private auditorium in Kochi.

Directed by Mahesh Narayanan, Patriot has generated significant buzz as it brings Mohanlal and Mammootty together on screen after a long gap. The film also features a stellar ensemble cast including Kunchacko Boban, Nayanthara, Fahadh Faasil, Revathy, and Darshana Rajendran.

While plot details remain under wraps, the teaser hints at a gripping political thriller packed with intense action sequences. The film is produced by Anto Joseph along with KG Anil Kumar, with CR Saleem and Subhash George Manuel as co-producers.

On the technical side, the film boasts music by Sushin Shyam, cinematography by Manush Nandan, and editing by Mahesh Narayanan and Rahul Radhakrishnan. Action sequences are handled by Dhilip Subbarayan, Stunt Silva, Mafia Sasi, and Riyas-Habib.

After several delays, Patriot is now scheduled to release in theatres on May 1, with the makers citing unforeseen circumstances—reportedly linked to geopolitical tensions in the Middle East—for the postponement.

Meanwhile, Mohanlal’s Drishyam 3, directed by Jeethu Joseph, is also expected to release in the same month. Additionally, Drishyam 2 is set for a theatrical re-release, marking its first big-screen outing after premiering on Amazon Prime Video five years ago.
