Kunchacko Boban–Lijomol Jose’s Unmadham Set for August 7 Release

The upcoming film starring Kunchacko Boban and Lijomol Jose has officially been titled Unmadham, with its theatrical release locked for August 7. The announcement, along with the film’s first look poster, was made by Panorama Studios and T-Series Films.

Directed by debutant Kiran Das and written by Shahi Kabir, Unmadham follows a police officer who reopens an old case with eerie, possibly supernatural undertones. As the investigation deepens, his personal life begins to unravel, and the line between reality and illusion starts to blur.

Kiran Das, known for his editing work in films like Joji and Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum, makes his directorial debut with this project, while also handling the editing. The film reunites Kunchacko Boban with Shahi Kabir after their collaborations on Nayattu and Officer On Duty.

The film features a strong supporting cast including Siddique, Sudheesh, Vishakh Nair, Sabu Mon, Kottayam Nazeer, Gokulan, Arun Cherukavil, Unni Lalu, Shaju Sreedhar, Krishnaprabha, Kiran Peethambaran, Vishnu, Raina Radhakrishnan, Sijoy Varghese, and Vigneswar Suresh.

On the technical side, the film has music by Mujeeb Majeed, cinematography by Arjun Seth, and production design by Dileep Nath.

Producers including Kumar Mangat Pathak, Abhishek Pathak, and Bhushan Kumar describe Unmadham as a layered psychological thriller that keeps audiences questioning reality while grounding the narrative in human conflict.

Kunchacko Boban shared that his character navigates a growing internal frenzy as the case unfolds, demanding both emotional intensity and restraint. Lijomol Jose added that the story draws its strength from relatable emotions placed in extraordinary circumstances, where fear, truth, and confusion intersect.

Director Kiran Das emphasized that Unmadham aims to immerse viewers in uncertainty, making them question whether the unfolding events are truly supernatural or something more grounded.
