Prithviraj stars as a daring gold smuggler in Khalifa, Vysakh’s action-packed thriller set across global borders, releasing Onam 2026.
The makers of Prithviraj Sukumaran’s Khalifa unveiled its first glimpse on the actor’s birthday, offering fans a thrilling peek into what promises to be an explosive, globe-spanning action drama. Directed by Vysakh, the film introduces Prithviraj as Aamir Ali, a notorious gold smuggler being hunted by Indian law enforcement across international borders.
The teaser begins with a gripping narration about a multimillion-dollar smuggling network operating from the Middle East through London, Nepal, and Kerala, setting the stage for a high-stakes cat-and-mouse chase. In a key interrogation scene, Indrans as Hamsa recounts the origins of India’s anti-smuggling laws during Indira Gandhi’s era, referencing infamous real-life figures like Haji Mastan and Sukur Narayan Bakhia — before revealing Aamir Ali’s lineage as the fictional grandson of Mambaraykkal Ahmed Ali.
Backed by a stellar technical team featuring Jomon T John (cinematography), Jakes Bejoy (music), Yannick Ben (action), and Chaman Chakko (editing), the glimpse teases intense chase sequences and raw, visceral action — hallmarks of Vysakh’s filmmaking.
Written by Jinu Abraham, who reunites with Prithviraj after Kaduva and Adam Joan, Khalifa is jointly produced by Jinu and Suraj Kumar. The film is slated for a grand Onam 2026 release.
Meanwhile, Prithviraj’s upcoming lineup includes Meghna Gulzar’s Hindi film Daayra with Kareena Kapoor Khan, and Malayalam titles Vilayath Budha and i, Nobody.
