Dheeram gets banned across GCC territories, forcing a UAE release cancellation; Indrajith expresses regret as the setback hits a key market for Malayalam cinema.

Indrajith Sukumaran’s latest crime-investigation thriller Dheeram has encountered a major setback in the Gulf region. The film has been denied censor approval across all GCC countries, resulting in its theatrical release being cancelled.

Indrajith himself informed fans through Instagram, expressing disappointment that he would no longer be able to celebrate the film’s UAE release with them. He thanked the audience for the strong reviews and support Dheeram has been receiving in India.

The ban marks a significant loss for the makers, as the GCC remains one of the biggest overseas markets for Malayalam cinema, often contributing heavily to box-office earnings. The setback is especially unfortunate given the positive reception the film has been enjoying.

Directed by debutant Jithin T Suresh, Dheeram features a strong ensemble cast including Aju Varghese, Divya Pillai, Nishanth Sagar, Renji Panicker, Reba Monica John, Sagar Surya, Avantika Mohan, Aashika Ashokan, Sreejith Ravi, and Sajal Sudarshan.

Indrajith was last seen in Prithviraj’s Empuraan, where he played Govardhan, a pivotal character in the film’s first half. He also has Jeethu Joseph’s action entertainer Ram awaiting release.
