Anto Joseph Debunks CBFC Rumours Around Patriot, Confirms Minor Edits Only

Producer Anto Joseph has dismissed circulating rumours about the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) demanding a change in the villain’s name in the upcoming film Patriot. The speculation suggested that the name resembled that of a politician’s son, prompting censorship concerns.

Clarifying the issue in a recent interaction, Anto stated that no such directive was given by the CBFC. He did, however, confirm that the board recommended a few minor changes, which do not impact the film’s core narrative.

Directed by Mahesh Narayanan, Patriot marks the much-anticipated reunion of Mohanlal and Mammootty after years. The duo last shared screen space in Kadal Kadannu Oru Maathukutty, where Mohanlal made a cameo, and earlier played significant roles together in Twenty:20.

The film boasts a stellar ensemble including Fahadh Faasil, Kunchacko Boban, Nayanthara, Revathy, Darshana Rajendran, Geethi Sangeetha, Zarin Shihab, and Grace Antony.

The trailer of Patriot hints at a gripping narrative centered on Mammootty’s character, Daniel, who turns against his former employer, Shakti Solutions, after its controversial ‘social evaluator’ software begins to disrupt civilian lives. Opposing him is Fahadh Faasil’s character, seemingly loyal to the corporation despite its harmful impact, while Mohanlal plays Daniel’s trusted ally in this battle against a powerful system.
