After Kavacha, superstar Dr. Shivarajkumar is back in a commercial cop avatar after a sabbatical of commercial movies.

The audience has always loved Shivanna more as an upright, merciless cop than a brutal underworld don, especially after delivering hits like Killing Veerappan, Mufti, and Tagaru. With Rustum, Shivanna has gone one step ahead to entertain the audience in multiple avatars.

Shivarajkumar looks different who is always spotted with the clean-shaven look but spots sharp mustache in this film.

The movie opens with the murder of the IAS officer. And his worried parents go to Abhi (Shivrajkumar) who is a Khaki-clad savior who tries to help. During this, his family to get into trouble and how saves his family and find justice for the IAS officer is the crux of the story.

This predictable story has a predictable screenplay too. A flashback, over the top action, hero mass entry and an item song. This film is a tailor-made cop film for Shivrajkumar.

The background score of Anoop Seelin is just okay. The theme music seems to have been inspired by the Tamil flick Theri. Cinematographer Mahen Simmha scores with unique camera angles and some classic time-lapse shots of Bengaluru and Bihar.

Stunt choreographer turned filmmaker Ravi Varma has used tried and tested subject to be in safe side. He could have made the film in different way with this predictable story which he failed to do.
