Rishab Shetty’s ambitious prequel, Kantara: Chapter 1, has hit a rough patch. The highly anticipated film's shoot came to an abrupt halt following a near-fatal boat mishap inside Karnataka’s Mani reservoir.
According to a report by NDTV, the accident occurred during the filming of a crucial scene. A boat carrying director-actor Rishab Shetty along with 30 crew members overturned in shallow waters, reportedly due to imbalance or overloading. While everyone onboard escaped without injuries, the incident led to a loss of expensive filming equipment, including cameras and shooting gear that were submerged.
Local police from Thirthahalli swiftly reached the location, and an official investigation is now underway to determine the exact cause of the mishap and evaluate the damages incurred.
The makers are expected to implement stricter safety protocols for the remainder of the shoot.
Kantara: Chapter 1 is being made on a much larger scale than its predecessor, with a pan-India release planned in multiple languages — Kannada, Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and even Bengali. The project has already garnered massive buzz for its storyline and production value.
Despite the setback, fans remain eager to see what mystical and intense storytelling Rishab Shetty will bring next in this expanding cinematic universe.
