Venkat Bharadwaj’s crime thriller Rakky, backed by Ashwini Puneeth Rajkumar, wraps major portions and eyes a vibrant summer 2026 release.
After delivering two theatrical releases in 2025 — Hyena in January and Hey Prabhu in November — director, producer, and writer Venkat Bharadwaj is gearing up for his next venture titled Rakky. The film is positioned as a crime thriller that blends style, energy, and mainstream entertainment.
Produced by Suresh Saligrama under the SNR Productions banner, Rakky is supported by Ashwini Puneeth Rajkumar. Venkat Bharadwaj reveals that the project took shape in March 2025, when he narrated two story ideas to Ashwini, following which Rakky was greenlit. The film underwent seven rounds of extensive script and dialogue revisions before going on floors on October 27, 2025.
The director has now wrapped up the talkie portions of the film. While two songs are yet to be shot, dubbing and post-production work are currently underway. Sharing updates, Venkat Bharadwaj has also unveiled a few first-look stills featuring the lead actor, offering an early glimpse into the film’s visual tone, narrative style, and the character arc of the protagonist.
Debutant Rakky Suresh headlines the film in the titular role, supported by an ensemble cast that includes B Suresha, Sampath Maitraye, Harini Srikant, Ashika Somashekar, Pallavi Manjunath, and GG. Ashika Somashekar and Pallavi Manjunath play the female leads.
A first promotional drop is expected soon and will reportedly feature a distinctive, youth-centric dance move aimed at striking a chord with younger audiences. Confident about the film’s universal appeal, Venkat Bharadwaj is targeting a summer 2026 theatrical release for Rakky.
