Makkala Sainya Set for May 22 Release, Revives Children’s Cinema Charm

Makkala Sainya, the directorial debut of SK Sunil Kumar, is all set to hit theatres on May 22. Having previously worked as an editor, Sunil Kumar takes on multiple responsibilities in the film, including story, screenplay, and dialogues.

The film aims to revive the charm of children-centric cinema, a genre that once resonated strongly with audiences. Drawing inspiration from classics like Simhada Mari Sainya and Putani Agent 123, the director has crafted a story that blends adventure, friendship, tradition, and an emotional father-daughter bond.

Shot in Akki Hebbal in KR Pete, Mandya district, the film features lyrics by Doddarange Gowda and music composed by Sanniraj. Despite being a children’s film, the makers have mounted it on a scale comparable to mainstream commercial entertainers.

One of the key highlights of Makkala Sainya is the performance of its young cast, who deliver natural and confident performances that stand out despite many of them being newcomers.

Produced by Muniswamy, with Sangeetha as co-director, the film carries the tagline “Savalige Saval,” hinting at a spirited and engaging narrative. The cast includes Mahalakshmi, Gagana, Sonakshi, Shashank, Robert, and Rudrappa, promising a wholesome cinematic experience for audiences of all ages.
