Legal Dispute Clouds the Release of Eddelu Manjunatha 2

The release of Eddelu Manjunatha 2, the final directorial venture of late Kannada filmmaker Guruprasad, has been thrown into uncertainty as a legal battle unfolds between the film’s producers and the director’s widow. Scheduled to hit theaters on February 21, the film is now entangled in an intellectual property rights dispute.
Guruprasad, who tragically passed away in October 2024, had not completed the film before his demise. His widow has now claimed to have obtained a court injunction against the film’s release. However, co-producer Mysuru Ramesh has countered these claims, alleging that the court has been misled.
One of the major controversies surrounding the film is the allegation that Guruprasad had deleted the raw footage before his death. According to Ramesh, the team managed to retrieve and edit the lost footage, completing the film posthumously. This has added another layer of complexity to the dispute, as Guruprasad’s widow contests the film’s ownership and release rights.
With just a day left for its scheduled premiere, the fate of Eddelu Manjunatha 2 remains uncertain. Whether the film will see the light of day or face further legal roadblocks is now a question only the courts can answer.
