Kriti Verma Steps into Sandalwood with Karikaada, Makes Kannada Film Debut

Bollywood actor and former Bigg Boss Hindi contestant Kriti Verma is set to make her Kannada cinema debut with Karikaada, directed by Gilli Venkatesh. Her introduction to Sandalwood comes through the recently released song Ratuni Ratuni, which not only showcases her screen presence but also adds a fresh visual appeal to the film’s promotional journey.

Karikaada had already generated curiosity with its title teaser, which hinted at a narrative blending adventure, music, and rooted storytelling. The song release builds on that interest, revealing the film’s tonal diversity while positioning Kriti in a performance-oriented number that highlights her confidence and adaptability.

Sharing her experience, Kriti says this debut has been a positive and welcoming one. She expresses gratitude to the team for placing their trust in her and adds that she hopes audiences connect with the film, while also expressing interest in exploring more opportunities in Kannada cinema.

The film features Kaad Nataraj in the lead role, who has also penned the story. A former IT professional turned actor-writer, Nataraj continues his transition into cinema with Karikaada, aiming to balance rooted narratives with accessible entertainment. Bala Rajwadi and Yash Shetty play important roles alongside him.

On the technical side, the film’s music is composed by Atishay Jain and Shashank Sheshagiri, with lyrics by V Nagendra Prasad. Cinematography is handled by Jeevan Gowda, while editing is by Deepak CS. The makers note that songs have been recorded by popular singers across languages to broaden the film’s reach.

Tulu actor Niriksha Shetty plays the female lead, supported by an ensemble cast that includes Manju Swamy, Govind Gowda, Divakar, Comedy Kiladi Surya, Rakesh Poojary, Vijay Chandur, Chandraprabha, Karisubbu, Giri, Master Aryan, and child artiste Riddhi.

Produced under the Riddhi Entertainment banner by Deepthi Damodar, with Ravi Kumar SR as co-producer, Karikaada is described as a long-cherished dream project shaped through close collaboration and dedication. With the film nearing release and its music receiving encouraging feedback, the focus now turns to how this cross-industry collaboration resonates with Kannada audiences.
