Rishab Shetty’s Kantara: Chapter 1 storms the global box office with ₹335 crore in just four days!

Hombale Films has done it again! Their latest cinematic marvel, Kantara: Chapter 1, has smashed box office records, racing past a staggering ₹335 crore worldwide in just four days of its extended opening weekend. The period folk action thriller, directed by Rishab Shetty, premiered on October 2 (Gandhi Jayanti) and made the most of the long weekend that followed.

The film’s extraordinary run marks the biggest four-day opening ever for a Kannada film, with collections soaring each day. Kantara: Chapter 1 has already overtaken several major hits, including Sitaare Zameen Par (₹266 crore), Lokah Chapter 1 (₹290 crore), and HanuMan (₹298 crore). It’s also surpassed KGF Chapter 1 (₹248 crore), now standing as the third-highest-grossing Kannada film of all time — just behind KGF 2 and the original Kantara.

In Karnataka alone, the film grossed an astounding ₹65 crore within the first four days, with Sunday (October 5) pulling in ₹16 crore. The Telugu version has collected ₹47 crore, while the Tamil version follows closely with ₹22 crore. Even the Hindi version, initially met with modest expectations, saw a huge spike on Day 4, taking India’s total gross to ₹75 crore.

With Kantara: Chapter 1, Rishab Shetty has once again proven his cinematic brilliance, crafting a cultural and spiritual spectacle that resonates deeply across languages. Starring Rukmini Vasanth, Jayaram, and Gulshan Devaiah alongside Shetty, the film features Arvind Kashyap’s evocative cinematography and Ajaneesh Loknath’s mesmerizing score.

As it continues its unprecedented run, Kantara: Chapter 1 is now on track to surpass its predecessor — and could soon become India’s first ₹1000-crore film of 2025.
