Veteran Kannada actor Harish Rai, best known for his memorable roles in Om and the KGF films, passed away after a prolonged battle with thyroid cancer.
A versatile performer, Harish effortlessly transitioned between menacing villains and heartfelt character roles. He gained immense recognition in the 1990s for his powerful portrayals of antagonists, later winning hearts with his warm and endearing performance as ‘Chacha’ in KGF: Chapter 1 and Chapter 2.
Beyond Kannada cinema, Harish also appeared in several Tamil films, including Underworld, Meendum Oru Kaadhal Kathai, Raj Bahadur, and Sanju Weds Geetha. His notable Kannada films include Bhooghat, Nanna Kanasina Hoove, Nalla, Jodi Hakki, and Thayavva, each showcasing his dedication and craft.
Despite his illness, Harish continued working with quiet determination. During the shooting of KGF, he reportedly concealed the effects of his condition with a long beard, symbolizing his professionalism and passion for acting.
