Elra Kaaleliyatte Kaala Set for April 17 Release; Chandan Shetty Debuts as Hero

Sujay Shastry’s Elra Kaal eliyatte Kaala, starring Chandan Shetty, is all set to hit theatres on April 17. The film, set in the 1990s, revolves around the value of time and blends humour with heartfelt family moments.

Backed by Govindaraju under Gokul Entertainers, the team recently unveiled the song Maathu Madhura via Anand Audio, followed by a media interaction. Addressing the delay, Shastry shared that unforeseen circumstances pushed the release, but the film is now ready for audiences.

Shot largely in Kanakapura, the story—written by Rajaguru Hoskote—beautifully aligns with the film’s theme. Shastry describes it as a family comedy with a meaningful message, expressing confidence that it will connect with viewers.

Marking his debut as a lead actor, Chandan Shetty revealed he underwent significant preparation, including gaining weight for his role. He emphasized that the film delivers an emotional takeaway about the consequences of not valuing time, while also expressing joy over the positive response to Maathu Madhura.

The film stars Archana Kottige as the female lead, alongside Dattanna, Tara Anuradha, and Manju Pavagada. Archana plays Vasantha, a mess owner in the story.

Music for the film is composed by Praveen and Pradeep, featuring five songs. Maathu Madhura, sung by Darshan Narayan and Anuradha Bhat, has already been released, while the remaining tracks capture a nostalgic 90s vibe. A special promotional song has also been composed and sung by Chandan Shetty.

Producer Govindaraju called the film his banner’s third venture, highlighting its strong message and urging audiences to experience it on the big screen.
