Chowkidar Set for January 30 Release, Promises an Emotion-Driven Kannada Family Drama

With January seeing only a handful of Kannada film releases, director Chandrashekar Bandiyappa’s Chowkidar is gearing up to make its theatrical debut on January 30. The release date was recently announced by actor Dhruva Sarja, drawing attention to the emotionally rooted drama.

The film stars Pruthvi Ambaar, last seen in Kothalavadi, alongside Dhanya Ramkumar, who recently appeared in Powder. Chowkidar marks the first on-screen collaboration between the two actors. Positioned as a family-centric drama, the film places strong emphasis on relationships, with the father–son bond forming the emotional core of the narrative. According to the makers, the story explores interpersonal ties and everyday emotions that resonate with family audiences.

Veteran actor Sai Kumar appears in a special role, adding significance to the project as it coincides with his 50th year in the film industry. The supporting cast includes Shwetha (Chaitrada Premanjali), Sudharani, Dharma, and Bigg Boss fame Gilli, among others, strengthening the film’s ensemble.

Produced by Kallahalli Chandrashekar under the VS Entertainment banner, Chowkidar is co-produced by Vidyadevi. The technical crew features cinematographer Siddu Kanchanahalli and music composer Sachin Basrur, with lyrics penned by V Nagendra Prasad, Pramod Maravante, and Santosh Nayak. The film has received a U/A certificate from the censor board.

Murali Master has choreographed the songs, while Jai Subrahmanya has handled the action sequences. Editing is overseen by Jnanesh Matad. VS Entertainment is also backing Mango Pachcha, which marks the acting debut of Sanchii, reflecting the banner’s focus on nurturing new talent.
