Thaayavva actress Geethapriya returns with Aparichite, a socially conscious drama directed by Vishwanath. Shot in Ramanagara’s historic hills, the film sees her play a teacher in a story inspired by real incidents. Produced by Suresh Kumar under Amar Films, Aparichite is now in post-production and set for release soon.

The iconic hills of Ramanagara, forever etched in Indian cinema history by Sholay, recently became the backdrop for Aparichite, a socially driven drama headlined by Geethapriya. Directed by Vishwanath, the film draws from real-life incidents to weave a narrative centred on social awareness and the power of education.

For Geethapriya, who made her debut in Thaayavva and also lent her voice to its songs, this project is more than just another role — it’s a personal calling. “Cinema is not just entertainment, it can be a classroom,” she explains. “Since I come from an educational background, I felt this was the right medium to deliver a meaningful message.”

In the film, she plays a teacher, a role she says resonates deeply with her. Recalling her shooting days in Ramanagara, she shares: “Walking through those forest interiors reminded me of Sholay. It was thrilling and lent a special energy to my scenes.”

Geethapriya acknowledges that while Aparichite may appeal to a niche audience, it will find its space. “Every film finds its people. I’ve always loved art films and folk tunes — they’re my roots. Why shouldn’t I represent realistic stories that matter?”

Produced by her husband, Suresh Kumar, under the Amar Films banner, Aparichite also stars veteran actor Srinath, his son Rohit, Sindhu Lokanath, and RJ Nikhita. The film is currently in post-production and gearing up for its theatrical release.

As she sums it up beautifully: “For me, art is about truth. If a film can stir thought and feeling, then it has already achieved its purpose.”
