Vishnu Manchu's upcoming film Kannappa promises to be a grand retelling of a cherished Indian mythological tale, drawing parallels with the visual and narrative grandeur of The Lord of the Rings.

Directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh, the film is set to hit theaters on April 25, 2025, featuring an all-star cast that includes Akshay Kumar, Mohanlal, Prabhas, Kajal Aggarwal, Sarathkumar, and Prabhu Deva.

The film was shot over 90 days in New Zealand, chosen for its untouched landscapes that complement the mythical setting. Vishnu explained that the natural beauty of the region added authenticity and depth to the narrative. The ambitious project involved a massive crew of 800 people, including contributions from the local Maori community, emphasizing the scale and collaborative spirit behind the production.

Kannappa tells the story of Kannappa Nayannar, a devout follower of Lord Shiva, celebrated for his ultimate act of devotion—donating his eyes to the deity. Vishnu, inspired by the classic Bhakta Kannappa from his childhood, envisioned this ancient tale on a larger-than-life scale. Combining traditional storytelling with elements reminiscent of epic fantasies like The Lord of the Rings, the film aims to captivate modern audiences while staying true to its roots.

The ensemble cast brings immense star power to the project, with actors like Akshay Kumar, Mohanlal, and Prabhas joining out of respect for Vishnu's father, the legendary Mohan Babu. Vishnu expressed gratitude for their involvement and acknowledged their significant contributions to the film. Sarathkumar and Prabhu Deva also play pivotal roles, adding further depth to the narrative.

Reflecting on the production, Vishnu shared that the project was completed on schedule and within budget, though he noted areas for potential improvement in efficiency. The process has been a valuable learning experience for the actor-producer, who hopes to apply these lessons in future endeavors.

With its combination of breathtaking visuals, a gripping storyline, and a commitment to honoring the essence of Indian mythology, Kannappa is poised to deliver a cinematic experience unlike any other. As Vishnu aptly puts it, the film is a "labor of love," blending cultural heritage with the scale and ambition of global cinema.

Mark your calendars for April 25, 2025, as Kannappa invites viewers into a world of devotion, sacrifice, and epic storytelling.
