The Bengal Files Trailer Unveils Untold Chapter of Partition Violence

Filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri has released the trailer of The Bengal Files on August 16, marking Direct Action Day. The film, starring Anupam Kher, Pallavi Joshi, Mithun Chakraborty, and Saswata Chatterjee, delves into the violent political past of West Bengal and portrays what the makers describe as the “buried story of Hindu genocide” following Partition. Dialogues from the trailer highlight Bengal’s role as the “lighthouse of Bharat” while exposing deep communal divides. Many viewers praised Agnihotri for shedding light on this dark chapter of Indian history, calling the film a necessary wake-up call. The director emphasized that the film is meant to prevent Bengal from “becoming another Kashmir.” Produced by Zee Studios and I Am Buddha, The Bengal Files forms part of Agnihotri’s Files trilogy after The Kashmir Files and The Tashkent Files, and is slated for release on September 5.
