Agastya Nanda and Sriram Raghavan team up for Ikkis, the inspiring story of 21-year-old war hero Arun Khetarpal, releasing this Christmas.
Acclaimed filmmaker Sriram Raghavan is set to bring a powerful real-life war story to the big screen with his upcoming film, Ikkis. The makers have now confirmed that the Agastya Nanda-starrer will release in theatres on December 25, making it a Christmas Day treat for moviegoers.
Unveiling a new poster featuring Agastya in an intense battlefield pose, the makers wrote, “On 25th December, bravery marches into cinemas. Witness the untold true story of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, India’s youngest Param Vir Chakra hero.”
Ikkis chronicles the extraordinary life of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, who, at just 21 years old, displayed unmatched bravery during the 1971 Indo-Pak war, earning India’s highest wartime gallantry award — the Param Vir Chakra. The trailer offers glimpses of his journey from a spirited cadet at the National Defence Academy to a valiant soldier on the frontlines.
A statement from the team reads, “At just 21, Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal became a legend. His story is not one of age, but of spirit — of honour, sacrifice and glory. Of courage that defined a generation.”
The film, co-written by Sriram Raghavan, Arijit Biswas, and Pooja Ladha Surti, also features Dharmendra, Jaideep Ahlawat, Sikander Kher, and marks the debut of Simar Bhatia, niece of Akshay Kumar.
For Agastya Nanda, son of Shweta Bachchan Nanda and Nikhil Nanda, Ikkis marks his second major role following his debut in Zoya Akhtar’s The Archies (2023).
Known for his gripping thrillers like Andhadhun and Merry Christmas, Sriram Raghavan takes a bold step into a new genre with Ikkis — a stirring military drama that promises to blend realism, emotion, and heroism in equal measure.
Produced by Dinesh Vijan, Ikkis is set to be one of the most awaited releases of the year.
