Filmmaker Shekhar Kapur has shared his choice for the next actor to take on the iconic role of James Bond, naming John Abraham as his ideal pick following Daniel Craig’s tenure.

Taking to X, Shekhar praised John Abraham for possessing the suave personality and charm associated with the legendary spy. He described the actor as someone with the classic “shaken, not stirred” aura while also appreciating his acting abilities and screen presence.

The filmmaker also reflected on Daniel Craig’s casting journey, suggesting that the actor’s performance in Elizabeth played a role in helping him secure the Bond role years later. Directed by Shekhar Kapur, the film featured Daniel Craig as John Ballard, long before he officially debuted as Bond in Casino Royale.

Responding to the compliment, John Abraham expressed gratitude to the veteran filmmaker. He said he felt honoured by the praise, especially coming from someone who recognised Daniel Craig’s potential before the world saw him as Bond.
