Salman Khan set social media abuzz on Tuesday after sharing a behind-the-scenes photo from the sets of his upcoming film Battle of Galwan. Directed by Apoorva Lakhia, the film is inspired by the 2020 Indo-China skirmish at Galwan Valley.

In the picture, Salman appears in full army uniform, his face smeared with blood, while a clapperboard covers part of the frame — hinting at the intense sequences being filmed. Reports suggest that the superstar is currently shooting the film’s climax in Leh and Ladakh, with production focusing on large-scale action set pieces.

Based on real-life events, Battle of Galwan revisits the brutal 2020 clash where Indian and Chinese soldiers fought without firearms, instead using sticks and stones due to restrictions in the region. The film also stars Chitrangada Singh in a key role, with music composed by Himesh Reshammiya.

Speaking to PTI about the challenges of filming, Salman admitted it has been one of his toughest shoots yet. “It is physically demanding. I’m running, kicking, punching — all that stuff. Shooting in Ladakh at high altitudes and in cold water makes it even more difficult. When I signed, I thought it was amazing, but it’s a very tough film to do.”

The actor revealed he has 20 days of shooting in Ladakh, followed by another week of sequences in freezing waters. “Earlier, I could prepare in a week or two, now it takes much longer. This film needs that effort,” he added.

Salman’s last outing, Sikandar, underperformed at the box office earlier this year, raising the stakes on Battle of Galwan. With its patriotic subject and rugged action, the film is being positioned as a comeback vehicle for the superstar.
