Kangana revealed that funding Emergency was a major challenge. “Nobody was buying it. No OTT platform was ready to purchase it,” she admitted. To ensure the project’s completion, Kangana made the bold decision to mortgage her house. “A lot of people backed out. I didn’t have someone to go to and cry to,” she said, emphasizing the isolation she felt during the process.

Apart from financial struggles, Kangana discussed the professional challenges she has faced, including multiple cases filed against her and negative publicity campaigns. “People against me hired PRs to harm my image. They randomly put cases against me, calling me psycho, chudail, stalker,” she explained. Despite the adversities, Kangana remained resolute, stating, “Nobody speaks about a woman like that, but I’ve faced it all.”

Emergency sees Kangana stepping into the shoes of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, presenting a dramatized portrayal of one of India’s most controversial political periods. The film also stars Anupam Kher, Mahima Chaudhary, Shreyas Talpade, and the late Satish Kaushik in pivotal roles.

While the film has garnered mixed reviews, it has managed to collect over ₹6 crore in its first three days of release. Kangana’s powerful performance as Indira Gandhi has been highlighted, but the film’s pace and narrative have drawn criticism from some quarters.
