Samay Raina’s popular YouTube show "India’s Got Latent" has come under legal scrutiny after a controversial remark made by Ranveer Allahbadia (BeerBiceps) in a recent episode. The episode, which featured Ashish Chanchlani, Apoorva Makhija, Jaspreet Singh, and Ranveer Allahbadia, has since been removed from YouTube following public backlash.
A viral clip from the episode shows Ranveer Allahbadia making an inappropriate joke about a contestant, which sparked outrage among viewers. His remark—
“Would you rather watch your parents have s*x every day for the rest of your life or join in once and stop it forever?”* was widely criticized for being offensive and inappropriate.
Following the backlash, an FIR was filed against Ranveer Allahbadia, Samay Raina, Ashish Chanchlani, and others for allegedly promoting obscenity and vulgarity.
Reports suggest that Ashish Chanchlani has now sought legal representation. His lawyer, when approached by the media, stated: “The media will have updates soon. I can’t say much right now. The matter is in court, so we can’t comment.”
This controversy has now gained national attention, with the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) urging YouTube to remove such content. There are also reports that Parliament may summon Ranveer Allahbadia and others to discuss the ethical boundaries of digital content and humor.
The incident has reignited discussions about the limits of humor in the digital age. While some argue for creative freedom, others believe that public figures must be responsible for their words, especially on platforms with massive audiences.
With legal proceedings underway, it remains to be seen how Samay Raina, Ranveer Allahbadia, and the rest of the panel will respond to the allegations. Meanwhile, "India’s Got Latent" has removed the controversial episode, but the debate surrounding online content continues to intensify.
Official statements from the accused YouTubers are awaited. The NHRC and Parliament may take further action. YouTube's content moderation policies may come under review.
This case could set a precedent for how controversial digital content is handled legally in India. Stay tuned for further updates!
