Golmaal 5 Announced: Akshay Kumar Joins Rohit Shetty’s Comedy Franchise

Filmmaker Rohit Shetty has officially announced Golmaal 5, the fifth instalment in the popular comedy franchise. The announcement was made on the director’s 52nd birthday, accompanied by a behind-the-scenes video shared on social media.

The film will see Ajay Devgn returning to lead the cast, alongside franchise regulars Arshad Warsi, Shreyas Talpade, Kunal Kemmu, Sharman Joshi and Tusshar Kapoor.

Sharing the announcement, Shetty reflected on the journey of the franchise, calling the first film a turning point in his career. The original Golmaal: Fun Unlimited went on to become a cult comedy and launched one of Bollywood’s most successful comedic franchises.

Actor Akshay Kumar also shared the announcement video on his Instagram and revealed that he will be joining the cast of Golmaal 5. In the clip, Akshay appears in a bald look, sporting black aviators and a gold chain, hinting at a flamboyant character. Earlier reports have suggested that he may play the antagonist in the film.

The Golmaal series began in 2006 and continued with Golmaal Returns, Golmaal 3 and Golmaal Again — all directed by Rohit Shetty and known for their slapstick humour and ensemble cast.

With the fifth instalment now officially underway, fans can expect another round of chaotic comedy from one of Bollywood’s most loved film franchises.
