Filmfare Awards 2025: ‘Laapataa Ladies’ Dominates with 13 Wins; Abhishek Bachchan & Kartik Aaryan Share Best Actor Honour

‘Laapataa Ladies’ wins big at Filmfare 2025 with 13 awards, while Abhishek Bachchan and Kartik Aaryan share Best Actor; Alia Bhatt wins Best Actress.
The 70th Filmfare Awards 2025, held on Saturday in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, was a star-studded night celebrating cinematic brilliance. The event saw Shah Rukh Khan return as host, joined by Karan Johar and Maniesh Paul, setting the stage for a night full of glamour and entertainment.
The evening belonged to Kiran Rao’s Laapataa Ladies (2023), which emerged as the biggest winner, bagging 13 awards, including the prestigious Best Film and Best Director trophies — one of the highest tallies in Filmfare history.
In the acting categories, Abhishek Bachchan (I Want To Talk) and Kartik Aaryan (Chandu Champion) shared the Best Actor award, while Alia Bhatt was crowned Best Actress for her powerful performance in Vasan Bala’s Jigra.
The Critics’ Award for Best Actor went to Rajkummar Rao for Srikanth, and Pratibha Rannta took home the Critics’ Best Actress honour for her breakout role in Laapataa Ladies.
Young talents also shone brightly — Nitanshi Goel won Best Debut (Female) for Laapataa Ladies, while Lakshya received Best Debut (Male) for Kill. Filmmakers Kunal Kemmu (Madgaon Express) and Aditya Suhas Jambhale (Article 370) shared the Best Debut Director award.
Other major wins included Shoojit Sircar’s I Want To Talk for Critics’ Best Film, and Ram Sampath bagging Best Music Album and Best Background Score for Laapataa Ladies. The film also triumphed in writing categories, with Sneha Desai winning Best Screenplay and Best Dialogue.
Special honours were presented to Zeenat Aman (Lifetime Achievement Award) and Shyam Benegal (posthumously). The RD Burman Award for emerging musical talent went to Achint Thakkar (Jigra, Mr & Mrs Mahi).
With Laapataa Ladies sweeping across categories and sharing the spotlight with Kill, I Want To Talk, and Jigra, the 70th Filmfare Awards truly celebrated the best of Indian cinema in 2025.
