College films are always audience favorite but Bollywood has mostly failed to show an interesting college film due to its illogical and dreamy kind of depiction. Chhichore comes as the rescue and Nitesh Tiwari after the humongous success of Dangal came with a fun college film laced with a social message.

The film starts with Aniruddh and Maya's (Sushant Singh Rajput and Shraddha Kapoor) son involved in a tragedy after failing to secure a coveted seat in India's top engineering college, unlike his father and mother, who were rank holders. This leads to a reunion between Aniruddh and his college friends - Varun Sharma as Sexa, Tahir Raj Bhasin as Derek, Naveen Polishetty as Acid, Tushar Pandey as Mummy and Saharsh Shukla as Bevda.

The gang starts telling stories of their eventful college life to the kid, who can speak clearly in the film despite the circumstances, hoping that their story can improve his condition. So we go into flashback and see the actors narrate to Aniruddh and Maya's son, and us, tales of their lively college life.

The film's plot is not different from other college life Hindi films it has a hangover of 3 idiots, Student of the Year and Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander. But what makes this film engaging is it's entertaining screenplay most of the interesting parts are obviously from the college flashbacks.

The highlights of the film are its brilliant ensemble supporting cast. The characters are so interesting that they can have a separate spin-offs movie or web-series. Varun Sharma has given career's best performance has pervert Sexa who has uttered movies best funny one-liners. He is the character which we have seen in our college life too.

The second-best performance is by Naveen Pollishetty as foul-mouthed Acid. The guy has given an honest performance. If you don't know naveen you should surely watch his Youtube sketches and one of the best movies came out this year Agent Sai Srinivasa Athreya which is also available on Amazon Prime Video.

Prateik Babbar, who delivered an intense performance as the popular guy and a baddie in college, could have been given a little more screen time. Tahir Bhasin (Derek), Tushar Pandey (Mummy) and Saharsh Shukla (Bevda) aptly fitting in their respective parts and doing full justice to their screen-time.

Sushant Singh as Ani and Shraddha Kapoor as Maya are good. Shraddha has got less character arc but she has given a good performance. Sushant is looking confident which was last seen only in the movie M.S Dhoni: The Untold Story. The climax monologue by him is surely inspiring and stays with you after the movie ends.

The film at times look overstretch and tedious but it is the cast and comic scenes which makes you sit and watch the film. The film has some hilarious comic seen which tickles your funny bones hard.

There is extensive use of prosthetic makeup to show the characters aging onscreen. While some are shown going half-bald, others decide to grow their tresses. There’s one guy with an American accent too -- he has stayed in New York for 20 years, after all. However, in Shraddha Kapoor’s case, the only transition that shows her going from her 20s to 40s is midi-dresses turning into cotton suits and saris. The makers should have made it more detailed.

Pritam's soundtrack is good but doesn't make you root for. He can do much better.

Chhichore is a good fun film which has a strong social message of education and student pressure to achieve ranks. this movie will surely make you miss your college and even urge you to call your friend and share a conversation of good old days.
