Bollywood Chandini ‘Sridevi’ passes away in Dubai

She was in Dubai to attend a family wedding with husband Boney Kapoor and younger daughter Khushi.
Bollywood first female superstar Sridevi passed away on Saturday night after a cardiac arrest. She was with her family to attend the wedding ceremony of her nephew Mohit Marwah. She was 54. Her brother-in-law Sanjay Kapoor confirmed the news of her death. Sridevi acted in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada films before entering Hindi films. She started acting in late 1960’s and won state award for best child artist for her performance in Malayalam film Poombata (1971). She made her Bollywood debut as a child artist in Julie (1975). Sridevi rose to fame in Bollywood with her 1983 film Himmatwala starring Jeetendra in the male lead role. Himmatwala (1983), Sadma (1983), Nagina (1986), Mr.India (1987), Chandini (1989), ChaalBaaz (1989), Lamhe (1991), Gumrah (1993), English Vinglish (2012) among many others earned her critical acclaim. Sridevi was honoured with Padma Shri in the year 2013. Her sudden death has shaken the film industry. Let her soul rest in peace.
