Article 15 Movie Trailer: A hard-hitting truth is exposed through a police officer in this realistic thriller.
The film is directed by Anubhav Sinha and it’s scheduled to release on June 28.
Before the official release of the trailer, a promo was released by the makers in which Ayushmann Khurrana who is playing a cop in the film, extending the movie’s theme, asked viewers to reflect on social status and entitlement.
The film promises to be a gripping investigative thriller. As per the trailer, two Dalit girls have been raped and killed brutally. Other than the two, another girl is missing. Ayushmann Khurrana and a team of police officers try to investigate the case.
While investigation, the protagonist gets to know about the toxic casteism in the place and tries to tackle the issue by highlighting the importance of ‘Article 15’.
Article 15 of the Constitution, which states that the State or any citizen should not discriminate anyone based on their religion, race, caste, sex or place of birth.
The plot appears to have been inspired by the gang-rape and murder of two Dalit women in Badaun in Uttar Pradesh in 2014.
The film is directed by Anubhav Sinha who earlier made another socially relevant film ‘Mulk’ which spoke about Islamophobia.
This is the first time Ayushmann Khurran is portraying a cop on the silver screen.
The cast includes Sayani Gupta, Isha Talwar, Manoj Pahwa, Kumud Mishra, and M Nassar. Written by Sinha and Gaurav Solanki, Article 15 will be released on June 28.
