Akshaye Khanna may reunite with Akshay Kumar after 15 years in Bhagam Bhag 2, with Raaj Shandilya reportedly set to direct the comedy sequel.
Buzz in Bollywood suggests that Akshaye Khanna is set to reunite with Akshay Kumar after a gap of nearly 15 years in the upcoming comedy sequel Bhagam Bhag 2. The duo last shared screen space in the 2010 film Tees Maar Khan, making this reunion one fans are eagerly anticipating.
Akshaye Khanna has had a notable year with two releases — Chhava, where he portrayed Aurangzeb, and the recently released Dhurandhar, headlined by Ranveer Singh. The actor also has a packed slate ahead, including the second instalment of an Aditya Dhar project, along with Mahakali and the much-awaited Drishyam 3.
According to reports, Bhagam Bhag 2 will be directed by Dream Girl filmmaker Raaj Shandilya. Meenakshi Chaudhary is also said to be part of the cast, although an official announcement from the makers is still awaited.
It was reported late last year that the 2006 cult comedy Bhagam Bhag, directed by Priyadarshan, would be getting a sequel. The original film featured an ensemble cast including Govinda, Paresh Rawal, Jackie Shroff, Lara Dutta, Rajpal Yadav, and Arbaaz Khan.
Bhagam Bhag remains one of Priyadarshan’s most popular Hindi comedies. Adapted from the Malayalam classic Mannar Mathai Speaking, the film followed a struggling theatre troupe whose London tour takes a chaotic turn when two of its members are falsely implicated in a murder case.
With a fresh director at the helm and a promising reunion on the cards, Bhagam Bhag 2 is shaping up to be an exciting addition to the franchise.
