After years of delays, director changes, and script issues, Mahershala Ali’s long-awaited Blade reboot is once again progressing, with Marvel Studios reportedly confident about the project’s current direction.

Marvel fans finally have a reason to get excited, as the long-delayed Blade reboot starring Mahershala Ali is seemingly back on track. Originally announced during Marvel’s grand presentation at San Diego Comic-Con in 2019, Blade has endured a bumpy road since then—losing directors, facing major script revisions, and being removed entirely from the studio’s release schedule in late 2024.

Now, writer-director David Goyer, who was involved in earlier iterations of the Blade franchise, has revealed new insights into the film’s progress. Goyer recently shared that around eight months ago, amid one of the film’s many setbacks, fans and friends urged him to step in and help save the project. Responding to that support, Goyer had his agent reach out to Marvel to offer assistance. However, the studio declined, stating: “We love you, but we think we’ve cracked it now, and we’re in a good place.”

While Goyer hasn’t been contacted again since, this exchange suggests that Marvel now has a solid direction for Blade and is quietly moving forward with the project, even if there are no public updates yet.

Despite having previously been scheduled for a November 7, 2025 release, Blade was later removed from the calendar without a replacement project being announced. Given that Marvel’s focus currently lies on major Multiverse Saga titles like The Fantastic Four: First Steps, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Avengers: Doomsday, and Avengers: Secret Wars, many assumed Blade might be shelved indefinitely. But Goyer’s update offers a glimmer of hope.

With four untitled MCU slots reserved for 2028, it’s possible that Blade could become a post-Multiverse Saga feature. And with Mahershala Ali still attached to the role, fans can remain hopeful that the Daywalker will finally make his long-awaited MCU debut—just a little later than planned.
