Katy Perry Set to Launch into Space with Blue Origin’s All-Women Crew

American pop icon Katy Perry is all set to blast off into space as part of Blue Origin’s first-ever all-women crewed mission, marking a monumental moment in space exploration and female representation.

Ahead of the launch, Perry took to Instagram to give her fans an exclusive tour of her spaceship capsule, where she’ll be seated as “Feather-2”, her call sign for the mission. Clad in a blue space suit with her last name stitched across the chest, the singer showcased her seat (number 2) and the capsule where she and her crewmates have been training for days.

“I’ve dreamed of going to space for 15 years and tomorrow that dream becomes a reality,” she wrote in the caption. “The Taking Up Space Crew launches tomorrow morning at 7 AM CT, and I am SO honored to be alongside 5 other incredible and inspiring women as we become the first ever all-female flight space crew!”

In the video, Katy even breaks into song, reworking a lyric to “here are the new shepherd,” a nod to Blue Origin’s New Shepard rocket. Her enthusiasm is palpable as she talks about believing in one’s dreams: “I do believe this. I’m not going to say I can’t believe I’m here. I do believe this, because I think that believing your dreams is actually how you make them come true.”

Joining Katy on this historic flight are journalist Gayle King, Lauren Sánchez (partner of Blue Origin founder Jeff Bezos), civil rights activist Amanda Nguyen, aerospace engineer Aisha Bowe, and film producer Kerianne Flynn.

The mission is scheduled to launch on April 15 at 7 AM CT, and marks a groundbreaking moment not only for commercial space travel, but for women's achievements in science, media, and public life.
