Andy Serkis to Return as Alfred in The Batman II Amid Busy Schedule

Andy Serkis is set to reprise his role as Alfred Pennyworth in The Batman II, the sequel to Matt Reeves’ 2022 blockbuster. The film is expected to begin production in London this June.

Although Serkis’ return was initially uncertain due to scheduling conflicts, the actor has now indicated that things are aligning. He is currently juggling multiple commitments, including his directorial project, The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum, slated for a December 2027 release.

While promoting his animated film Animal Farm, Serkis shared optimism about joining the sequel. He noted that although he may not be part of the shoot immediately, he is likely to come on board later in the year as schedules fall into place.

The sequel will see Robert Pattinson return as Bruce Wayne, alongside Colin Farrell reprising his role as Oswald Cobblepot, also known as the Penguin. Reports also suggest that Scarlett Johansson and Sebastian Stan have joined the cast, with Stan expected to play Harvey Dent.

The first installment, The Batman, was a major success for Warner Bros., grossing over $772 million worldwide and marking a strong theatrical comeback during the pandemic era.

The franchise further expanded with the HBO series The Penguin, which received widespread acclaim. Cristin Milioti earned awards recognition for her performance, while Colin Farrell’s portrayal of the titular character was also widely celebrated.
