Koragajja is set roughly 800 years ago in the Karavali (Tulu Nadu) region of Karnataka.
It follows the journey of a tribal youth named Taniya who transforms over time into the divine figure of Koragajja, a principal deity worshipped by many in that region.
The film explores how this youth gains divine status, set against the backdrop of local folklore, ritual customs, and the socio-religious traditions of Tulu Nadu. One of the key cultural elements incorporated is the Bhoota Kola ritual (a shamanistic dance/spirit worship tradition), which features in the story as part of how communities express devotion and interact with deities.
The film also includes a royal character, Udyavara Arasu (played by Kabir Bedi), who presumably interacts with the emerging divine identity of Koragajja.
