Kaalakaandi is a thrilling dark comedy film starring Saif Ali Khan. The film is directed and written by Akshat Verma and is produced by Rohit Khattar and Ashi Dua.
The Plot: The movie is based on the lives of six Mumbaikars who intersect on a crossroad, with one breathing his last. Rileen played by Saif Ali Khan, who has never touched alcohol or tobacco in his life is diagnosed with stomach cancer. He learns that he just has a month or 2 to live. He decides to change his life and try out everything to live the life that he was secretly craving in. The second story is about a couple played by Kunal Roy Kapur and Shobhita Dhulipala, where the girl plans to leave for US for higher studies and the boy is not happy with the decision. They plan to attend a birthday party before she leaves, and things change from there. The third story played by Vijay Raaz and Deepak Dobriyal is about courier boys who fight for a goon and aspire to be a big shot in ‘crime world’. What happens when all of them who are not related to each other meet forms the crux of the story.

When a character from this film tries acid for the first time, we're prepared to brave his inevitable waking nightmare. Objects around him take on a mutable, liquid quality and soon, a portly policeman appears to be wearing a shimmery dress and a floppy wig. Kaalakaandi is set in Mumbai and focused primarily on more mature characters. So its tone, texture and treatment are markedly different. So, the story is set in an isolated Mumbai of some parallel universe – where you find the streets vacant at night.
