Ajay Devgn's latest sports drama, "Maidaan," seamlessly blends history with football, adding to Bollywood's collection of sports-themed dramas. The trailer for director Amit Ravindernath Sharma's film was released today, offering a glimpse into India's illustrious football history.

Set against the backdrop of the 1950s and 60s, the movie follows the journey of legendary coach Syed Abdul Rahim, portrayed by Ajay Devgn, who is deeply passionate about the sport. His wife, played by Priyamani, affectionately refers to football as his first love.

Rahim's ambition is to assemble a world-class football team that will elevate India's standing on the global stage. Despite facing challenges and skepticism, Rahim selects underdogs for the national team based solely on their talent, disregarding their socio-economic backgrounds. His ultimate goal is to secure a gold medal for India in the Asian Games, a feat that seems daunting given the lack of support from the authorities. Rahim makes a bold promise: if he fails, he will never coach again. Will Ajay Devgn's portrayal of Syed Abdul Rahim fulfill his dream of glory?

Syed Abdul Rahim is hailed as the visionary behind modern Indian football, credited with India's gold medal victories in the Asian Games of 1951 (Delhi) and 1962 (Jakarta), as well as leading the team to the semi-finals of the Summer Olympics in 1956 (Melbourne), a historic achievement for an Asian nation.

In the trailer, Ajay Devgn celebrates the legacy of the team, showcasing their journey to greatness. He writes, "A team that carved its legacy with every step! A man who devoted his life to football. And one #Maidaan where the whole world witnessed it all...Bringing the Golden Era of Indian Football to life!"

The teaser reveals, "Aajao Maidaan mein! We're ready to present the incredible true story of the golden era of Indian Football."

Maidaan also features Priyamani, Gajraj Rao, and Rudranil Ghosh. Scheduled for release on Eid, the film will go head-to-head with Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff's action thriller, "Bade Miyan Chote Miyan." Directed by Amit Ravindernath Sharma and co-produced by Boney Kapoor and Zee Studios, "Maidaan" promises to be an inspiring cinematic experience.
