Vidaamuyarchi Teaser Impresses but Faces Plagiarism Allegations

Directed by Magizh Thirumeni and starring Ajith Kumar, Arjun Sarja, Regina Cassandra, and Aarav, the film has generated significant excitement ahead of its Pongal 2025 release.

However, the film is now embroiled in controversy following allegations of plagiarism. According to the Valai Pechu YouTube channel, a Hollywood production company that owns the rights to the 1997 thriller Breakdown, starring Kurt Russell, has accused Vidaamuyarchi of heavily borrowing from its storyline. Breakdown revolves around a husband’s desperate search for his missing wife after their car breaks down in a remote area, leading to a suspenseful series of events.

The Hollywood company has reportedly sought Rs. 150 crore in damages for intellectual property infringement. The filmmakers of Vidaamuyarchi have not yet responded to the allegations.

Despite the controversy, the buzz surrounding the movie has only grown. With music by Anirudh Ravichander and an intriguing premise, Vidaamuyarchi remains one of the most discussed Tamil films of the year.
