Inside Out 2 Sets New Animated Film Record, Surpasses $1 Billion in Global Box Office

Inside Out 2 has made cinematic history by becoming the fastest animated film to surpass the $1 billion milestone worldwide.

Released by Disney and Pixar, the sequel achieved this remarkable feat in less than three weeks, outpacing its predecessor, Frozen 2, which took 25 days to reach the same landmark. The film's unprecedented success is underscored by its exceptional performance in India, where it earned ₹101.48 crores (approximately $12.7 million) within just 19 days, making it the quickest animated film to join the ₹100 crore club in the country.

Internationally, Inside Out 2 grossed $469.3 million in North America and $545.5 million overseas, accumulating a total of $1.015 billion globally, according to Variety. This achievement marks it as the 11th animated film ever to cross the billion-dollar mark and the first since Margot Robbie’s Barbie in 2023.

Directed by Kelsey Mann and featuring voices from Amy Poehler, Maya Hawke, Phyllis Smith, Lewis Black, Tony Hale, and Liza Lapira, the film debuted worldwide on June 14, 2024. Its success underscores the enduring appeal of Pixar's storytelling and the widespread acclaim for its imaginative and emotionally resonant narrative, penned by Meg LeFauve.
