Uri Vibes Evident in Vicky Kaushal's Sam Bahadur Teaser.

While Vicky Kaushal's appearance as Sam Bahadur in the 1960s-70s era is striking, the teaser and setting of the film seem to carry a strong reminiscent "Uri: The Surgical Strike" vibe. Vicky's portrayal of Sam involves pep talks to his fellow soldiers, almost conjuring memories of his famous "How's the Josh" line from Aditya Dhar's movie.

Furthermore, certain dialogues, like the one delivered to then-Prime Minister Indira Gandhi (played by Fatima Sana Shaikh) at the teaser's end, maintain a tonal resemblance to the world of "Uri." When Indira conveys that a soldier's duty is to die on the battlefield, Sam counters by emphasizing that a soldier's responsibility is to eliminate enemy soldiers.

These similarities may also be attributed to the shared production house behind both military films, Ronnie Screwvala's RSVP Movies. "Sam Bahadur" marks the second collaboration between director Meghna Gulzar and Vicky Kaushal, following their successful 2018 espionage thriller, "Raazi."

Who Was Sam Bahadur?

Sam Bahadur, the Chief of the Army Staff during the 1971 India-Pakistan War, holds the distinction of being the first Indian Army officer promoted to the rank of Field Marshal. His illustrious career spanned nearly five decades, encompassing five wars, including World War II. He was honored with the Padma Vibhushan Award, India's second-highest civilian accolade. December 16 is celebrated as Vijay Diwas annually to commemorate India's triumph over Pakistan in the 1971 war, achieved under his leadership.

The film "Sam Bahadur" also features Sanya Malhotra in the role of Sam's wife, Siloo Manekshaw, and is scheduled for release in theaters on December 1.
